Selena Gomez has come a long way since her Barney & Friends days. An actress, singer and fashionista, she cemented her reputation as a triple threat at last night’s Teen Choice Awards at Universal City’s Gibson Amphitheater in Los Angeles.
The 18-year-old, who donned a white mini-dress by BCBG Max Azria and nude heels from Sergio Rossi, nabbed a total of four surfboard awards—that’s one more than Miley, if you’re keeping count—for Choice TV Actress: Comedy (for Wizards of Waverly Place), Choice Music Group and Choice Breakout Artist (for Selena and The Scene) and Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon.
Yet despite all of these accomplishments, the Texas native is still getting to know herself: “I’d just like to figure out who I am,” she told Hollywoodlife.com when asked about her “good girl” image before the ceremony. “I really don’t like it when people say I’m wholesome…I never said I was that and I never tried to portray it. I’m honestly doing what I feel like I’m doing.” And what she’s currently doing seems to be working.
To see for yourself, watch the Teen Choice Awards at 8 p.m. (EST) on Fox with Katy Perry as the hostess with the mostest. You can also cheer for other triumphant Latinos: Zoë Saldana won for Choice Movie Actress: Sci-Fi for Avatar, Shakira won Choice Activist and David Archuleta took home the prize for Choice American Idol Alum.
