There’s nothing Selena Gomez can’t do. The superstar went from her days on Disney Channel to becoming an executive producer for Netflix’s newest drama, 13 Reasons Why. Although the star is not featured onscreen for the series, she is bringing her musical talent for the soundtrack.
In honor of the 24-year-old actress’ accomplishments with her Netflix series, we thought it was only fitting to come up with 13 reasons why we can’t get enough of the Mexican-American star.

From starring on Barney & Friends as a kid to her days acting on Wizard’s of Waverly Place, we’ve grown up with the singer. Sure, things have changed, but we will never forget the Latina star dancing with a giant purple dinosaur.

Its no secret Gomez has an incredible connection to Selena Quintanilla. Although the star was born three years before Selena's tragic death, the "Hands To Myself" singer was named after the Tejano legend.
In an interview with Sacramento’s Now 100.5, the songstress revealed how she ended up with the name. “My name was going to be Priscilla, but my cousin actually took the name when she was born six months before me," Gomez said. "My parent's loved Selena's music. So, they just named me after her."
Ironically, both Selenas were born and grew up in Texas.

Selena has been a proud mamá to six rescue dogs! Her four-legged children include: Willie, Wallace, Fina, Chip, Chazz, and Baylor.
Back in 2009, the Wizards of Waverly Place star was also involved with an online charity auction for Island Dog Inc., a group that helped homeless puppies in Puerto Rico.

The Mexican-American beauty is no stranger to giving back. Gomez, who has previously spoken about her battle with lupus, recently gifted the University of Southern California’s Keck School of Medicine a donation to support treatment and therapy for the autoimmune disease.
Selena is also an active UNICEF Ambassador since 2009. In the past, the multi-platinum recording artist has visited Nepal with the organization, where she traveled to bring attention to children in need within the country.

During her Revival tour, the Mexican-American singer announced she would donate all the proceeds from her North Carolina show to local a LGBTQ charity.
The popstar used her concert to take a stand against The Public Facilities Privacy and Security Act (HB2) – also known as the "bathroom bill" – which requires transgender people to use bathrooms that correspond with their sex at birth.

One things for sure, Selena doesn’t care what haters think. After constant scrutiny from Internet trolls, the singer decided to pose node for the cover of her Revival album. In an interview with InstyleUK, the popstar revealed that although body-shamers “hurt [her] feelings,” she did not let them define who she was. “I didn’t want [that] to be my story, so I said, ‘I don’t care what you think’ …I’m learning that you can be comfortable and still look beautiful.”

The 24-year-old star was recently confirmed as the new face of Coach. The singer reportedly landed a $10 million dollar deal with the luxury company, where she will work with creative director, Stuart Vevers, on a special design project for the brand.
However, this is not the first time “The Heart Wants What It Wants” singer ventured into designing. Back in 2010, Gomez launched her own line of junior clothing called Dream Out Loud, which was exclusively sold at Kmart retailers.

During her Revival tour, the Texas-native decided to take some time off to deal with anxiety, panic attacks, and depression caused by her lupus diagnosis. After being three month away from the spotlight, the singer took to Instagram to express her gratitude of the year. “I have a lot to be thankful for this year. My year has been the hardest yet most rewarding one yet. I've finally fought the fight of not 'being enough'. I have only wanted to reflect the love you guys have given me for years and show how important it is to take care of YOU. By grace through faith. Kindness always wins. I love you guys. God bless," Gomez wrote.

The Mexican-American actress graced the cover of our April 2009 issue. When we asked the Disney alum about her proud Latina roots, the singer admitted she thought “it’s pretty neat to be Mexican.” “I didn’t even realize what a big deal it was to be Latin at first. But then one day being with my dad, it hit me: it’s pretty neat to be Mexican. And there aren’t enough Latinas in Hollywood—or there are, but they don’t get the recognition. So to be able to come out here and use that, it’s really a powerful thing,” the star exclusively told Latina.
