Selena Gomez and her 13 Reasons Why co-stars, Alisha Boe and Tommy Dorfman, opted to go under the needle for a big cause. The trio got a subtle semicolon inked on their wrists, which symbolizes suicide prevention and mental health awareness. The punctuation is part of Project Semicolon, a movement that encourages those who struggle with depression to use the symbol as a way of recognizing the lives of those that could have ended through suicide but continued instead.

The symbolic tattoo is very much in line with the Netflix's newest series. The show follows teen, Hannah Baker, who commits suicide and leaves behind tapes explaining the 13 reasons behind her suicide. It also hits home with the 24-year-old singer, who has struggled with depression in the past. Back in October, the songstress entered a rehab facility for anxiety and depression issues.

Dorfman, who plays Ryan on the Netflix series, took to Instagram to share a picture of his fresh ink and what it stood for him.

"I struggled with addiction and depression issues through high school and early college. I reached out and asked for help. At the time, I thought my life was over, I thought I'd never live past the age of 21," Tommy captioned the photo with Gomez and co-star Boe.
