Rosario Dawson breaks her silence after finding 26-year-old cousin Vaneza Ines Vazquez dead at her home earlier this month.
While promoting The Lower East Side Girls Club on AOL's Build Series in New York, the Daredevil star opened up for the first time about her cousin’s sudden death. "I've been dealing with a lot of loss lately and reconnecting with my family and my friends in a different way. I'm realizing how much I've pulled myself back, and I've been just really humbled by this opportunity tonight,” Dawson said in her first appearance since the tragic incident. “My cousin just died, Vaneza, and I’m coming up on the six-year anniversary of my grandmother’s passing.”
According to the 38-year-old belleza, Vasquez’s death has taught her to appreciate every single moment because life is too short to be taken for granted. “From 75 to 26, you just don’t know when your time is. I just don’t want to be in any kind of position where I’m looking back going, ‘Ah, I should’ve, could’ve, would’ve, didn’t, damn,'” the Cuban-Puerto Rican said.
The interview comes two weeks after TMZ initially reported that the Unforgettable actress found her cousin unresponsive in her Venice, California home. Despite paramedics’ attempt to resuscitate Vasquez, she was transferred to a hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Early autopsy results indicated she passed away from natural causes and sources told the news outlet she had no history of substance abuse.
