Ricky Martin is 'GLAAD' to be Gay

Lately, Ricky Martin has been acting like a proud gay man. After starring in an anti-gay bullying PSA last week for Cyndi Lauper's Give a Damn Campaign, the boricua pop singer made a surprise apperance at Saturday night's Human Rights Campaign National Dinner in Washington D.C.

Martin, who was the first to speak at the event, was humble and gracious as he delivered these opening comments to guests. "This is very simple," he said. "It took me a while, but tonight I'm here and I want to say that I want to add my voice to yours. And I'm so happy to be part of the community."

Afterwards, the event's keynote speaker Valerie Jarrett, a senior adviser to President Obama, spoke about the recent string of gay teen suicides across the country.

“No young person should have to endure a life of relentless taunts and harassment, just because they’re gay,” she said. “On behalf of President Obama, I want to make clear this administration is firmly committed to working with you and other advocates.”

It seems as though Ricky is out and proud and GLAAD to stand up to prejudice and discrimination. And we couldn't be happier for him.
