Ricky Martin ‘Gives A Damn’ About Anti-Gay Bullying

It may have taken Ricky Martin 38 years to come out of the closet, but the Boricua pop singer—who admitted that he’s “a fortunate Gay man” in March—refuses to be silent about his sexuality anymore.

Martin is one of three gay celebs—including Elton John and Wanda Sykes—speaking out about hate crimes in a new, anti-bullying PSA for Cyndi Lauper’s Give A Damn Campaign. “It is time for things to change,” Martin stresses in the video, which premiered Monday night on CNN’s Larry King Live.

The new PSA comes less than a week after Rutgers University freshman, Tyler Clementi (a closeted gay teen) took his own life after being filmed by his roommate having sex with another man. “One of these acts of violence and intimidation occurs approximately every hour of every day in this country,” Martin explains. “I give a damn, do you?”
