POLL: Gisele Bundchen, "There Should be a Law that Mothers Breastfeed Their Babies"

Gisele Bundchen seems like a superwoman! She gave birth naturally—at home, with just her family and a midwife for assistance—and a few weeks later was back to looking like her stunning self, stalking the catwalk in a Brazilian fashion show.

One of the practices Gisele says has contributed to her incredibly fast post-baby slim down is breastfeeding. However, many women are outraged over a recent interview in Harper's Bazaar in which she stated, “Some people [in the U.S.] think they won’t have to breastfeed, and I think, ‘Are you going to give chemical food to your child, when they are so little?” Bundchen asked.  “There should be a worldwide law, in my opinion, that mothers should breastfeed their babies for 6 months.”

Some feel that the comment was overly judgmental and ignorant of the fact that many women do in fact try to breastfeed only to find it very difficult or even painful. But other have applauded her outspoken support of breastfeeding, after all, study after study have proven that the benefits of breastfeeding (for both mother and child) far outweigh any temporary discomfort a new mami might feel.
