Miley can party in the U.S.A.... but not in D.R.

The Dominican Republic banned Miley Cyrus from performing on the pristine shores of their Caribbean island this weekend.

According to the Associated Press, government officials deemed that Cyrus often "undertakes acts that go against morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law." Critics have challenged the 21-year-old singer in the past for her questionable on-stage behavior, including twerking and crotch-grabbing.

Cyrus, who won the Video of the Year award at last night's MTV Video Music Awards, planned to perform in the country on Sept. 13. Tickets for the concert, which ranged in prize from $27 to $370, have been on sale since July.

In the past, the commission has banned songs it considers vulgar, including music by Calle 13.
