Ahhh, love—so exciting and new! Until, all of a sudden, it's not anymore.
Unfortunately, all weddings do not end in happily ever after. As Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony can attest—they announced they’re calling it quits today!—it's harder to maintain marital bliss than it seems. At least they can take some consolation in the fact that they are far from the only famous Latino couple to fizzle out.
Here are some other famous Latin celeb divorces:

Mario Lopez and Ali Landry
Married: The two actors got hitched in a Catholic ceremony at the posh Las Alamandas resort in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico on April 24, 2004.
Divorced: and had their union annulled just a few weeks later.
What happened: Apparently, Mario happened. The dimpled one allegedly cheated on her…repeatedly.
Where they are now: Mario has been tamed! He and his girlfriend, Broadway dancer Courtney Mazza, had a daughter, Gia Francesca, on September 11. Ali also has a daughter, 3-year-old Estela, with director hubby Alejandro Gomez Monteverde. In a recent interview, Landry opened up about the relationship: “That was a terrible situation and it was the worst thing that ever happened to me. I have never been betrayed by someone like that," she fumed. "But, I will say, even though I never got an apology from him, it was also the absolute best thing that happened to me because now I have a great husband who has the same values and morals as me.”
Mariah Carey and Tommy Mottola
Married: In June 1993, the pop star wore a princess style satin gown to her high-profile wedding to the music producer who catapulted her to fame.
What happened: Mariah blamed Mottola’s possessiveness and psychological abuse for the split. In an interview with Allure years later, she said she used to fantasize about being kidnapped so she could be free. “I'd have my pocketbook with me at all times in case I had to make an escape," she said.
Where they are now: Mariah is very married to actor Nick Cannon (they’ve had three weddings so far). Mottola has moved on, too, with singer Thalia, who clearly enjoys whatever attention Mariah didn’t. They’ve been married for nearly 10 years and have a daughter, Sabrina Sakae, 2.
Alex and Cynthia Rodriguez
Married: November 2, 2002
Divorced: September 2008
What happened: A-Rod hit homeruns…with strippers, prostitutes, and even Madonna! After hearing that Cynthia had filed for divorce, one of A-Rod’s jump-offs said, "A leopard doesn't change his stripes. Good for her. I think she's doing the smart thing. And she'll probably get tons of cash." True. Life could be worse.
Where they are now: A-Rod has had a string of blond girlfriends since the Material Girl, including Kate Hudson and Cameron Diaz. He continues to score.
Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards
Married: June 15, 2002, ironically, two years after meeting on the set of Good Advice.
Divorced: November 30, 2006
What happened: In one of the ugliest divorces in recent Hollywood memory, the two fought over custody of their two daughters, with Richards blaming Charlie’s drug and alcohol use and threats of violence for breaking up the marriage.
Where they are now: Charlie is on his third rocky marriage (the first was to Donna Peele and ended after he was named as one of madam Heidi Fleiss’s clients) to Brooke Mueller, a union that has so far produced twin sons and for the actor, an arrest for domestic violence, along with anger management classes and a stint in rehab. Some people just don’t learn.
Dave Navarro and Carmen Electra
Married: November 22, 2003, in a ceremony for which the guests were asked to dress “hot and sexy.” When they arrived, they were met by men in red masks. Um, OK...
Divorced: 2006 (the third divorce for Dave).
What happened: The marriage between the sexually adventurous guitarist and Dennis Rodman’s ex seemed like a match made in freak heaven. Alas, they just grew apart.
Where they are now: He’s dating and she’s engaged to musican Rob Patterson.
Jennifer Lopez and Ojani Noa
Married: J.Lo and the Cuban waiter married back in 1997.
Divorced: They divorced a year later after the pop star started to gain major stardom for her role in the bio-flick, Selena.
Where they are now: Jennifer is still 'dancing again' with Casper Smart, of course. Ojani tried to exploit the relationship by selling a book and rumored sex tape with no avail.
Robert Rodriguez and Elizabeth Avellan
Married: In 1990.
What happened: The chronology is fuzzy, but sometime after actress Rose McGowan showed up to film Grindhouse, Robert and Elizabeth’s marriage—previously one of the most solid and productive in Hollywood (they produced almost all of Robert’s films together and built a film empire in their hometown of Austin)—hit the skids. We’re just saying.
Where they are now: The two continue to work together and live near each other for the sake of the kids. Both are single. C’mon, guys, restore our faith in true love and get back together!
Marc Anthony and Dayanara Torres
Married: The salsero and the former Miss Universe married on May 9, 2000 in Las Vegas.
Divorced: Apparently troubled from the start, they separated in 2002. That same year, they reconciled and renewed their vows. Torres then filed for divorce in January 2004, saying her marriage was “irretrievably broken.”
What happened: There were allegations of infidelity (a woman once claimed he had fathered her child, but was disproved). Dayanara’s divorce settlement kept her from talking about the divorce or about Marc, but that didn’t stop her from yakking about it obliquely, without naming names, in a divorce memoir.
Where they are now: Duh, Marc married to JLo. Dayanara was dating fellow Boricua hottie Amaury Nolasco, but the couple split in 2008.
