It seems like just yesterday Mario Lopez was getting into trouble as Slater on Saved by the Bell. Now, he’s all grown up and on the cover of Mini Magazine with his wife, Courtney Mazza, and two children. Time flies!
In the interview with Mini, Lopez dished on his life as a parent. He described his parenting style as “pretty strict, but always coming from a place of love.”
“I just want to raise my kids to be polite and respectful,” he added.
The 41-year-old also wants to instill his Mexican heritage into his two children, Gia, 4, and Dominic, 18 months. “I would love for my kids not to forget their culture," he told the magazine. "I am 100% Mexican and my wife is 100% Italian — I’d like for them to be familiar with where they came from.”
Lopez admitted that he felt less nervous over the birth of his second child — but a third child could be scary! “Once we go to baby number three we are going to be outnumbered — then it will get very real," he said.
When asked about the greatest challenge of parenting, Lopez had an amazing response. “Being able to balance everything in your life — being there for your family and providing for them the best way you can," he answered. "There is not manual. You do the best you can!”
Thankfully, his wife, Courtney, couldn't be more supportive or understanding. “Mario works so hard for our family, but no matter how long of a day he’s had, he comes home and is so present,” she said. “I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect father for my children. He is everything.”
At the end of the day, Lopez has his priorities in order: “My family is my number one priority — that always comes first."
