Mariah Carey's Million Dollar Performance

Mariah Carey is making sure she and husband Nick Cannon remain recession proof. This New Year’s Eve found Madame Butterfly on the isle of St. Barths belting out tunes to the price tag of $1 million. Yup, you heard right. Saif Khadafy, son of Libyan leader Muammar Khadafy, invited (and paid) Carey to bring in 2009 at his New Year’s Eve extravaganza at the super posh Nikki Beach nightclub. Celebs were in full view at the event, including those other newlyweds Jay Z and Beyoncé, as well as rocker Bon Jovi, funny man Eddie Murphy, fashion designer Marc Jacobs and island regular Russell Simmons.

Sounds like a party that we definitely should have been invited to. But, while the rest of us head back to work and tighten our budget belts, Mariah will be singing and hitting high-notes all the way to the bank!
