Mariah Carey was all smiles yesterday while talking to Ellen Degeneres about her pregnancy, but the singer's road to getting pregnant wasn't an easy one.
In the new issue of Us Weekly (on newsstands now), Mimi opens up about a miscarriage she had following her April 2008 wedding to hubby Nick Cannon, that had her crying herself to sleep.
Mimi tells the magazine that despite her struggles to get pregnant, she and Nick never gave up on their dream of having a child. She explains that she began taking progesterone, a hormone that is often used to boost fertility that helps maintain pregnancy in women susceptible to miscarriage. Nick reveals that Mariah also used once-a-day acupuncture “all over her body,” to help get rid of stress.
When Mariah finally got pregnant, “it was priceless,” said Nick. “We definitely cried. We still cry all the time. It’s an emotional journey.”
Mariah told Us Weekly that she and Nick are the real deal. "I know people initially were, 'What? Those two?' But I think people who know us get it. He's a great person, and we have more in common than not."
