Jennifer Lopez celebrated her milestone 40th birthday in high style! In honor of the momentous occasion, husband Marc Anthony threw two lavish parties for his gorgeous wife.

The first was an intimate event, attended by a few friends and family at Hotel Griffou in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood on Friday evening. She wore a stunning, figure-fitting silver halter dress and a pair of dazzling, dangling diamond earrings. 

But it was the second party that really touched Jennifer's heart. Marc surprised the diva with a fiesta at the Edison Ballroom entitled "An Evening with Lola" (Lola is the crooner's nickname for his wife) the following night. A bevy of A-list entertainers attended the bash, including Ricky Martin, Liza Minnelli, Leah Remini, L.A. Reid, her manager Benny Medina and her Backup Plan costar Alex O'Laughlin.

All was not well in the land of Lopez at the beginning of the evening, though. Jennifer apparently lived up to her diva status when she realized many of the invitees were late. When the dinner portion of the evening began, some seats were empty and an inside source told the NY Daily News that J. Lo could be heard complaining loudly to Marc. "She was fuming because people were late. Jennifer was visibly upset and embarrassed," the source dished. 

Thankfully, J. Lo got over it and eventually went on to have a blast. Anthony even performed a special song for Lopez, bringing her to tears. As a matter of fact, Lopez burst into tears on a number of occasions throughout the evening, clearly overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and well wishes from her friends, family and fans. Says the source, "After Jennifer got over her initial irritation, she let go and looked like she was having the time of her life, drinking champagne and partying until 4 a.m. It was definitely a good way to kick-start her 40s."
