J. Lo's Medical Scare with Baby Emme Leads Her to Charity

A medical scare with baby Emme right after she was born made Jennifer Lopez think twice about children's health care, and what she would do if she couldn't have access to all the resources she needed.

Jennifer discovered a lump on little Emme's head when her twins were still only 3 weeks old, "We both got very nervous—very, very nervous—and I just remember my heart sinking to my feet," Lopez told eonline.com last night at the Noche de Niños gala benefit for the Children's Hospital of Los Angeles. "I looked at Marc and I said, 'You know if anything happens, I'm not going to be okay, you know that, right?'" The worried parents rushed their baby girl to the hospital, where she underwent an extensive series of tests, including an MRI. Thankfully, no health problems were found.

Lopez says the experience opened her eyes, "I started to wonder, what if I couldn't afford a doctor or receive the medicines, the procedures?" Right after the incident, the singer/producer/actress joined forces with CHLA and the Maribel Foundation to provide medical services for the less fortunate.

Lopez also debuted a song that she wrote for her twins at last night's gala, in which she sings, "Let's keep this time for us and make it last as long as we can. It's already going too fast."
