There are two kinds of stars in Hollywood: those that break into the business, and those who were born into the business. These five Latinas represent the latter group.
1. Growing Up Hollywood: Lourdes Leon
Lourdes Leon, 14
If you were a teenage girl and Madonna was your mother—wouldn’t you try to make it in Hollywood? Well, that’s exactly what Madge’s daughter Lourdes is trying to do by launching a Material Girl clothing and accessories collection at Macy’s with her mom’s help. The young fashionista is definitely on her way to becoming a Hollywood fixture; she just started her Freshman year at the famed LaGuardia High School for the Performing Arts in New York City.
2. Growing Up Hollywood: Nicole Richie
Nicole Richie, 28:
Socialite, fashion designer, reality star and sometimes actress, Nicole Richie is the quintessential poster-child for Hollywood nepotism. The adopted daughter of superstar soul singer, Lionel Richie, Nicole had two A-list godparents growing up: Quincy Jones and Michael Jackson. Talk about being connected!
3. Growing Up Hollywood: Alice Braga
Alice Braga , 27
On her own, Brazilian actress, Alice Braga has landed starring roles in hit films like City of God, and I Am Legend. But she got her first role ever—a yogurt commercial—because her mother (also an actress) was chummy with the director. Her aunt, Sonia Braga, is also an Emmy and Golden Globe nominated actress and her father was a television editor.
4. Growing Up Hollywood: Francia Raisa
Francia Raisa, 22
It’s doesn’t surprise us that Francia is the scene-stealing star of ABC Family’s smash hit, The Secret Life of the American Teenager—or that she has starred in several made-for-TV movies (including, The Cutting Edge 3, and Bring It On: All or Nothing). After all, this is a girl who grew up in show business. Her father is Los Angeles radio personality “El Cucuy.” He named his daughter Francia because he wanted her to become a star. Mission accomplished!
5. Growing Up Hollywood: Shayne Lamas
Shayne Lamas, 24:
Shayne—who guest starred on several episodes of the soap, General Hospital before landing her very own reality show on E! (Leave it to Lamas) comes from a famous family. The daughter of 80’s TV star Lorenzo Lamas (Falcon Crest, Renegade), Shayne’s grandmother was screen legend Arlene Dahl and her grandfather was Hollywood leading man, Fernando Lamas.
