GLAAD Not Happy with Perez Hilton

Perez Hilton openly admitted to “making the split second decision to say what he thought "was the worst possible thing that thug [Will.I.Am] would ever want to hear” after a recent confrontation in Toronto. Perez succeeded in offending the Black Eyed Pea, but also managed to anger The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) and a number of those in the LGBT community.

As a response to a video posted by the celebrity blogger, GLAAD has asked Perez Hilton to apologize for hurling the word "faggot" at Will.I.Am. Rashad Robinson, GLAAD’s senior director of media programs said, “These are vulgar anti-gay slurs that feed a climate of hatred and intolerance toward our community.” Robinson went on to say that for a member of the LGBT community to use that odious word to attack another person “sends a message that it is OK to attempt to dehumanize people by exploiting anti-gay attitudes.”

Of all the things that Perez could have said to push Will.I.Am’s buttons it seems a bit hypocritical and insensitive to have chosen that particular insult. What do you think—should the self-proclaimed queen of gossip apologize?
