When La La Vazquez and Carmelo Anthony tied the knot last weekend in New York City, they topped off the stylish celebration with a beautiful red and gold wedding cake designed by New York celebrity baker Ron Ben-Israel. Hungry for more details about the delicious dessert? Ben-Israel told us that the cake—which took a staff of eight a whole week to create—included personalized details that had special meaning for the couple, like the monogram of interwoven double L’s and a C for La La and Carmelo pictured above. "It was the same monogram the couple used on their save-the-date cards and wedding invitations," says the star baker. "The monogram was painted gold, and we added textured elements around each tier for depth."
The cake’s flavor was also specially tailored to the couple's tastes. Ben-Israel says that the groom's favorite color is red, so "that’s why the couple chose to serve red velvet cake with red fondant icing." For the final luxurious touch, Israel adorned the cake with thousands of hand crafted sugar flowers.
