George Lopez Divorcing his Wife

Sometimes love (even a kidney!) just isn't enough. George Lopez, 49, is divorcing his wife Ann after 17 years of marriage. 

Back when George was struggling with a degenerative kidney disease in 2005, Ann underwent surgery and donated one of her organs to her then-hubby. Though sources told TMZ that the couple has been working out details of the split "for a long time," the breakup doesn't seem to be acrimonious. The Lopez's reps released a statement today confirming the split:

George and Ann Lopez have made the decision to end their 17-year marriage. The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement. They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation.

The couple have a 15-year-old daughter named Mayan and have told friends and family that they will keep the divorce amicable for her sake.
