We caught up with Jenna Ortega of Disney's hit show Stuck in the Middle and 2018's Saving Flora, to check in on her midterm grades and get the scoop about her top Christmas gift and fancy New Year's Eve plans. What this 15-year-old said will surprise you.

You're the fourth child of six kids. Who’s the most difficult sibling to buy a Christmas present for?

My brother Marcus. I know which cute clothes to get the girls, but I’m not used to dressing boys. He’s a guy, so he’s not going to want clothes. I don’t know if he wants video games, or if he wants a headset. And if I ask him, he will say, “Oh, I don’t know.”

What’s the top item on your Christmas wishlist?

I don’t really want a lot for Christmas, but I do want a pair of fuzzy socks because I don’t have any. They’re super comfortable.

No way. When did fuzzy socks get on your gift radar?

A couple of years ago we were spending Christmas with our friends in Utah, and they all had fuzzy socks, and they let me borrow a pair, and I became obsessed. I keep forgetting to ask, but this year I remembered to ask for them.

In your Disney movie Stuck at Christmas, everything goes wrong on the way to abuela’s house. Have you ever had a real-life situation like that?

Nothing around Christmas time but once we were heading to the beach for the Fourth of July. We were at the store getting food—because everybody brings something, it’s kinda like a potluck situation—and the clerks were super difficult about it, and we wasted an hour in the store. We finally on our way to the beach, the car started making weird noises and slow down and pick up speed. My mom was like, “I don’t feel safe. We should turn back. What if we get to the beach and we can’t get home?” We ended up turning back to go home. We spent most of our Fourth of July in the car. I was so disappointed.

Do you have a fave scene in your Stuck at Christmas?

The final scene when we were doing the obstacle course, and I was in the reindeer costume. It was freezing that night, but I was super warm. Me and the cast were dancing off-screen and we and doing promos at the same time.

New Year’s Eve is right around the corner, how will you ring in 2018?

I’ll be home sleeping. I have a week off from work and you can find me in my bed. Here’s what I’ll do, I’ll go to bed at 7 o’clock, and I’ll set an alarm for 11:45 p.m.

You work so hard. You deserve some rest, especially after acing your geometry midterm. Congrats.

Yasssss. OMG. I was so stressed out about that. My mom and my teacher were like, “Jenna you need to calm down.” I was like, “This is 50 percent of my grade. I think I’m gonna stress out about it.”

Were you struggling with geometry or was everything coming at you at once?

I had a lot going on outside of work, then I had work, and then I had to study for the test. It was a lot to handle, mainly because I spend most of my day on set [shooting Stuck in the Middle]. People always say you are good at algebra or geometry and I was really good at algebra. Geometry was a harder concept for me to get.

You post artwork from your fans on Insta. What made you start doing that?

I love my fans so much. I think it’s so cool that they took the time out of their day to make these cool drawings. When Instagram came out with the feature that allows you to post multiple photos, I was able to post them all. Before that, I was posting one or two, and I didn’t want to disappoint anybody.

What’s the coolest thing about your forthcoming movie Saving Flora?

I get to hang out with the elephant the whole movie. Before the movie started, they let me and one of my co-stars meet the elephants. I don’t know if I was scared or overwhelmed because they were asking me questions and my co-star was answering, but I was out of it. I had big ole eyes staring at this elephant, and I was thinking, Puh-lease don’t step on me. Once I climbed on top to learn how to ride the elephant, I didn’t want to leave.

You quote SZA lyrics on Twitter. What do you like about this singer?

Her style is so unique. The ways she sings. The way she dresses. The way her music videos are directed, SZA is just awesome all around.

Did you ever have a fan-girl moment?

I was working on Jane the Virgin, and I had wardrobe fitting. And they asked me if I wanted to meet Britney Spears and I was like, Um, sure. My mom was like, “Jenna did you say, sure? Yes, we would love to meet her.” My mom was like, "Britney Spears is iconic. How are you not freaking out right now? I said, "She’s just a person." But then when I walk over to Britney, I thought I was going to pee my pants. I started crying. My voice was shaking. Britney hugged me and told me my nails look so pretty. And I was crying and saying: " You’re Britney Spears!" My mom pointed fingers at me after, like, "Yeah, you said it wasn’t a big deal.”
