Cuban-born singer Gloria Estefan and her husband Emilio Estefan will host President Barack Obama when he takes a trip down to Florida on April 15. The music industry power couple will throw their first ever political fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee. The pricey cocktail reception ($30,400 per couple for tickets) will be held at the Estefan's Miami Beach home.
Freddy Balsera, a Democratic consultant who has advised the Obama administration on Latino issues told the Miami Herald of his close friends, the Estefans, "They're both at a place in their lives where they believe giving back is important and patriotism is important."
This will not be the family's first time fraternizing with the White House. In 2005, Gloria performed at the inaugural celebration for President George W. Bush's second term after Emilio was appointed to the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities.
