Wearing a gorgeous black leather jacket, J-Lo inspired hoop earrings, and an infectious bright smile that lit up the entire room (seriously, the light came from those pearly whites!)—Demi Lovato—who is even more beautiful in person than she is on TV—opened up to Latina.com about her relationship with Selena, what it was like working with her boyfriend, Joe Jonas, and why she’d love to make an album in Spanish.
Can you tell our readers what Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam is about?
Camp Rock 2 is bigger and better! Everyone is excited to be back at camp, but when they arrive, they realize that there’s another rival camp. In the midst of all that, there’s drama, there are relationships evolving—and dissolving. My character, Mitchie Torres, came back to Camp Rock because of her friends and to see Shane (Joe Jonas), but she gets so wrapped up in trying to save the camp that she has to decide: Does she want to save the camp or does she want to have a relationship with Shane?
Speaking of novios—what was it like working with your boyfriend, Joe Jonas on this movie?
He wasn’t my boyfriend at the time, but we had a great time. We’ve always been best friends, so it was just as great! I’m touring with the Jonas Brothers too. Our first concert kicks off on July 27th.
Would you ever consider doing a Spanish language rock album?
Oh, that would be sooo rad! I would totally love to do that. I think that maybe even doing a whole album in Spanish would be really great too!
Some people are saying that you and Selena are growing apart. Is that true?
[Smiles] You know…I love her. Always will. And, that’s that.
Of all the Disney characters you’ve played: Which one is your favorite?
My favorite is Sonny because she’s really quirky and over the top. I get to embarrass myself with her.
You’re so busy with your super successful TV and music careers. Do you ever just want to take a six month break and relax?”
No, because I think I’d get too bored. I mean, it sounds nice, especially when you haven’t slept in a few days. But this is what I love doing, so I don’t feel the need to take a break from what I love.
