In the latest issue of People magazine Christina Aguilera opens up for the first time about her divorce and burgeoning relationship with new boyfriend, Matthew D. Rutler.

The 29-year-old singer says Rutler, whom she met on the set of Burlesque, keeps her up all night. "He’s the kind of person you could spend hours on the phone talking to and all of a sudden it’s daylight,” explains Xtina.

In the interview, Aguilera calls Rutler "a special person" and says they forged a "really strong friendship on the movie." Still, the singer made it clear that she and her new boyfriend didn't begin dating until after she filed for divorce from her husband of five years, Jordan Bratman back in October. “Once I filed for divorce," Xtina explained, "we started dating."

Aguilera also said she's taking things with Rutler slow. “I’m not trying to jump into anything," she said. "I just left a five-year marriage. I’m taking it slow and trying to be happy."

Although Christina is clearly having fun with Rutler, she added that it's more than just a good time. “There’s a love there, yes," she admits. "I’m dating and it’s something I haven’t had in a really long time.”

As for Bratman, Christina explained the relationship wasn't always broken.“We were great the first year after [our son] Max was born. Jordan was amazing. He was the first to change Max’s diaper. Then things turned."

"When I finished filming I didn't feel right in my own shoes. I had a lot of things stirring inside of me that I felt were being suppressed," the songstress continued.

Aguilera also points to son Max, now 3, as a reason she felt she had to leave the marriage, "It wasn't good for us, and it wasn't good for Max to witness our arguments. Children can feel when things aren't right at home."

"Things were so unhealthy and unhappy for both Jordan and me, I knew I had to end it," she concluded.
