The new National Museum of African American History and Culture, which will be inaugurated next Saturday, will include a piece of Cuba.
The soul of the Caribbean island will be present in a Celia Cruz dress included in one of the 12 exhibits of the bronze-sheathed museum, located on the iconic Mall in downtown Washington that the first black U.S. president, Barack Obama, will inaugurate on Sept. 24.
The history of the black community encompasses much more than just the United States, and so Celia Cruz's gown was included, Dwan Reece, the curator of the museum's Music and Performing Arts exhibit, told EFE.
