Demi Lovato had one unfortunate fan growing up: the ghost of a girl named Emily.
One night, as an 8-year-old child, Lovato walked over to her closet to shut the door. "And when I shut it," she recalled. "I saw a little girl, and she was dressed like she was from the 1800s. And [she] was just standing in my closet."
When Lovato told her mother about the supernatural experience, her mother confessed that she had encountered the ghost — when Lovato was just five-years-old. Turns out, Lovato used to have playtime with the ghost of the little girl. Spooky...
As a child, Esai Morales encountered a ghoulish spirit whom he originally thought intended to harm him. Growing up in the Bronx with a single mother, Morales had a tough upbringing. "I remember sometimes having a tantrum," he recalled on an episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories. "I was quite the handful. Very willful."
One night, as Morales adjusted to sleeping in his own room for the first time, he spotted someone watching him in bed from outside his window. He screamed, and his mom rushed into the room. She looked out the window, and told him he had nothing to be afraid of.
The next night, the apparition reappeared. Morales screamed again, only to be scolded by his mother. She raised her arm to beat him with a belt, but paused midair. She couldn't release her arm — something was holding her back. She couldn't move her arm. She couldn't scream. She could do nothing but stand there, terrified.
When the entity released her, she began crying and told Esai a tragic story from her childhood. When she was just a girl, her father gave her away to an aunt and uncle who desperately wanted a child of her own, but were unable to conceive. Morales and his mother now believe the spirit was her father from beyond the grave, and that he appeared to help his daughter move on and to protect Esai.
Jessica Alba attracted the malice of an angry ghost one night while she still lived in her parents' home.
"I felt this pressure and I couldn't get up," she said of the terrifying event. "I couldn't scream. I couldn't talk. I couldn't do anything. Something definitely took the covers off me, and I definitely couldn't get off the bed, and then, once I did, I screamed, ran to my parents' room and I don't think I spent many nights in that house ever again."
UFC Hall-of-Famer Tito Ortiz and his partner, Jenna Jameson, encountered an especially violent ghost one night in their home.
When Jameson got up from the living room couch to use the restroom, she became trapped behind the door. The bathroom door locked behind her and refused to open. The lights turned off and refused to turn on.
She was trapped.
Ortiz pushed and pushed the door, but it wouldn't budge. Finally, the UFC Hall-of-Famer pummeled his entire body weight against the door, forcing it open. Jameson, terrified, told him the light wouldn't turn on — and as soon as she said the words, the light flickered back on.
CHiPs star Erik Estrada was sleeping when he came face-to-face with a nurse from beyond the grave. He awoke to find a woman standing by the window — dressed in white with a half-cap and long, dark hair. Suddenly, Estrada got this sharp pain — a pain he likens to puncturing his lung. In a matter of seconds, the ghostly nurse is standing above the bed, looking straight down at Estrada.
"She takes her right hand and puts it on the side of my rib cage," he said. "Then, takes her left hand and puts it over my eyes."
Was the ghost an apparition from beyond sent to save him in a medical emergency? He may never know.
Devious Maids star Ana Ortiz had a blood-curdling run-in with a supernatural being during her early days as an actress in Los Angeles. She moved into a room in a friend's two-story home, only to discover that her room was unnaturally chilly year round, no matter the outside temperature.
One afternoon, the young star was in her room, putting on makeup and going over lines when she suddenly felt a "crisp" sense of cold. "Something in here isn't right," she recalled.
Suddenly, without warning, the boombox in her room turned on. "I hear music playing," she said. "I didn't have anything in my room but this old boombox... from the late '80s." The spookiest part? There were no batteries installed.... and no cord.
Two months later, she returned home from a long day of auditions to discover an empty house. She slowly walked up the stairs. As she approached the top of the steps, she felt a blast of cold air along her backside. "It was like getting cold water thrown on you," Ortiz remembers. "I screamed." Suddenly, two young boys rushed by her — one chasing the other. They vanished just as suddenly as they appeared.
Later, Ortiz and her roommate discovered from a neighbor that a pair of brothers lived in the home in the '50s. The two had been in a months-long battle over the same girl.... and the feud ended with them chasing each other through the home and stabbed each other to death in the room where Ortiz now slept.
When Lisa Vidal was just 12-years-old, she experienced a bizarre ghostly experience that sealed her belief in paranormal activity forever. She lived in a small apartment with younger sister and her mother — who had an excellent friend, an unmarried woman named Maria, who also befriended Vidal's aunt. "Maria was just a light," Vidal explained on an episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories.
Vidal's aunt had a jealous boyfriend who attacked the women in a violent encounter that ended with Maria falling off the balcony — 16-floors to her death. In the days following Maria's tragic passing, the family began to experience a series of unexplained occurrences — leading them to believe that Maria's ghost had returned to look after them.
While the apparitions initially frightened Vidal, she began to view them as a comforting presence. Later, Maria came to say goodbye to the family in the form of a white dove. It snuck through an open window in the apartment and flew around their living room. After it flew away, they never saw Maria's ghost again.
Selena Gomez revealed that a ghost lived in the California home she shared with her mother, Mandy Teefey, and stepfather, Brian Teefey. On the top level of the Connecticut-style home, the previous owners had constructed an elaborated dollhouse, complete with garden gnomes and creepy lighting.
One night when she came home from dinner, Gomez saw a figure in a white dress sprint across the dollhouse. She sent her stepfather to investigate, but he claimed he saw nothing.
Three months later, her ex-boyfriend (who knew nothing of the story) saw a young girl in a white dress walk past him. A few months later, her mother, Mandy, encountered the little girl in white as well. The family believes the ghost is a good spirit who simply wants to play in the dollhouse.
As a child, actress Marisa Ramirez lived with her single mother in a condominium complex that her mother managed. One of the condos — nestled in the back corner of the complex — had a dark presence that prevented any tenant from staying too long. Once, when she walked into the unit with her mother, she was startled to see blood splattered throughout the interior. On the walls. On the carpet. Everywhere. And she was the only one who could see it.
That night, as she did her homework alone in the living room, she felt a presence in the room with her. She ran up the stairs to her bedroom as fast as possible, but turned to see a shadow figure staring at her from the foot of her stairs. She ran up to her room, closed the door, and tried her best to get some sleep...
Unfortunately, the ghost returned. One hot night, Ramirez lay atop the covers of her bed when she awoke to find someone shaking her. As she looked to the edge of her bed, she saw the dark figure standing at the foot of her bed, watching her. She heard her mother screaming from her bedroom. She ran to her room... to find her asleep. Her mother was having the worst nightmare — a dream that mimicked what had happened in real life to her daughter.
Paz de La Huerta's ghost story falls somewhere in between "spooky" and "scandalous." The zany Boardwalk Empire star told The New York Times that she experienced an, ahem, pleasurable experience with the ghost of Elvis when her and her ex-boyfriend, Scott Weiland, visited Graceland.
"I went to his recording studio because sometimes the sensitive people feel him in this room, and I stood in this corner and I felt him. What can I say? I felt him touch me. I mean, come on, he's a ghost. I felt his spirit go through me and give me pleasure," she said.
"Elvis was tickling me with a feather," she added.
