Bella Thorne Reveals Why She Spoke Up About Sexual Abuse, The Times Up Movement, and More


Bella Thorne is known for being authentic and open about her life and now she's opening up about why she came forward with allegations of past abuse.

The Cuban-American star, who claims to handle all her social media, says she was so angry one day from a comment someone made on Twitter, asking "What did Disney do to this girl? Was she molested?" Thorne wrote back “Yeah, I was. So it wasn’t Disney.” After confirming the abuse on social media, the actress remembered thinking, "'Oh f--k, do I delete it?' Then I was like, ‘No, Bella. You just let it stay on there.' And then I didn't say anything about it for awhile."

In January, following the #MeToo and #TimesUp movement, the former Disney Channel star posted more details about the abuse that she endured when she was young on her Instagram account.

When asked if she regrets posting the Tweet The Midnight Sun actress says she had consulted her manager asking if it was bad. "He was like, ‘Is it bad? Bella, there's nothing bad about this. This is good. You are not any less of a person because this has happened to you,'" she shared. "It was one of the first times that someone had actually said that to me since it happened and it really meant the world to me" Thorne recalled tearfully. 

In regards to the #MeToo movement and #TimesUp movement, the Latina actress said, "I've had people flirt with me" but "I'm lucky enough that I haven't been put in any situation in Hollywood that has been bad enough in that  sense where I'm like 'Oh fuck - this is scary. What am I gonna do to get out of here?"
