Colombian salsa sensation Grupo Niche has lost their founder. Salsa song writer Jairo Varela, 62, died yesterday from heart failure in Cali, Colombia.
VOXXI News is reporting that Jairo was found dead in his home and authorities believe he died of a heart attack. Jairo founded Grupo Niche in 1978. It was he who created the band's distinct sound thanks to his "poignant lyrics, blaring trumpets and upbeat tempo."
