"It all became very real at that moment," she explained. "You begin to realize just how much civil rights activists went through."
And they surely went through a lot! In one scene, Carol has to come to grips with someone spitting in her face. A moment Alafia tells us had her "break down" in tears.
"That was a hard day, but we need stories such as this to remind us of what our parents, grandparents and those before them went through."
