In a recent BBC radio interview Jennier Lopez said, “I loved 'Idol,' but I have a lot of other things happening, and it's going to come down to me making a choice of what I want to do for the next year ... We're not really at the breaking point of 'You have to make a decision right now!'"
However, ‘Idol’ executives and producers are starting to make decisions of their own. Apparently, Shania Twain and Shakira are prime contenders for Lopez’s seat at the judging table.
One exec said of Lopez, “'Idol' didn't fall apart when Simon [Cowell] left and Jennifer has to get some of the credit for that. But let's also remember the show didn't increase in ratings and that is also thanks to J.Lo.”
Lopez earned $12 million for her year on American Idol, which is a pretty paycheck, but her music career has resurged like dynamite. She’s also started filming work on the adaptation of What To Expect When You’re Expecting, where she plays a character adopting a baby from abroad and she's in talks to star in a new action trilogy opposite Jason Statham called Parker. She can probably thank ‘Idol’ for these successes, but in the mean time she has some decisions to make before she gets bumped out.
