Will Penelope Cruz be the next Bond girl? Rumors have swirled around the Spanish actress after reports claiming she will join Daniel Craig as his love interest in the still-unnamed Bond 24 movie.
Cruz was set to become the oldest Bond girl – at the age of 40, Yahoo reported recently. The actress is currently pregnant with her second child with husband Javier Bardem but, according to Yahoo, would start work on the latest Bond film next summer, after she turns the big 4-0.
Don’t let your heart flutter just yet, because the reports turned out to be false.
Though the actress’ rep could not be reached for comment, E! Online reports that a source confirmed that the casting rumors are “not true.”
To date, the only Latina Bond girl has been Nicaraguan actress/former model Barbara Carrera, who starred as Bond girl Fatima Blush in 1983’s Never Say Never Again.
Maybe next a Latina is rumored to be the next Bond girl, it will turn out to be true. Here’s to hoping!
