Following a tragic navy yard shooting yesterday, the White House announced it would be cancelling the Latino music concert which was planned for later that evening.

The music event, which was being held in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month and was set to air during a televised music special called Música Latina: In Performance at the White House, will be “postponed to a new date," announced the White House.

According to NBC Latino, the decision was made out of respect for the victims and families of the mass shootings that took place Monday morning at the Washington Navy Yard.

Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Lila Downs, Romeo Santos, Alejandro Sanz, Prince Royce and several others were scheduled to perform at the event.
