Marc Anthony recently opened up about his unexpected venture into fashion, acting, and a bit about his personal life. The Puerto Rican salsa artist was in New Jersey recently for the launch of his new Kohl’s fashion line, which he collaborated on with his soon-to-be-ex-wife Jennifer Lopez. After seven years of marriage, the former power couple’s July 15 divorce announcement unleashed a media frenzy—complete with rumors of affairs and controlling behavior on Anthony's part.
“Everybody’s fine, the kids are fine, the family’s fine, absolutely, no question,” Anthony told host AJ Calloway. When probed about his feelings towards his divorce with Lopez, the 42-year-old singer didn’t delve too much into the subject, citing his recent interview on ABC’s Nightline with John Quiñones. “I said everything I had to say on that interview,” he said, “just as a whole, don’t like opening that door and talking about private matters.”
As for his involvement in fashion, Anthony said it was never something that interested him before. “I was never that guy,” he said. The singer said Tommy Hilfiger called him and convinced him that what he represented was important and reminded him about how clothes can make you feel. “I realized that for me it was more important to be comfortable in clothes and look cool,” he said, “but to feel comfortable in it.” Anthony added that he concentrated on the attention of detail in his line, which he said is for anybody who’s into “great quality clothes at a cheap price point.”
The recent cancellation of TNT’s medical drama HawthoRNe, which Anthony stars in alongside Jada Pinkett Smith, won’t stop the singer from continuing to act. “I got the bug,” he said. “It’s something that I realized I could do and I wanted to do.”
