Victor Cruz Apologizes for Zimmerman Tweet

Following the not guilty verdict announced in the Zimmerman trial on Saturday night, millions took to Twitter to express their opinion, including New York Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz.

Cruz tweeted, "Thoroughly confused. Zimmerman doesn’t last a year before the hood catches up with him."

According to Fox News Latino, the 26-year-old NFL player's tweet drew tons of criticsm which prompted him to delete the message and apologize to upset fans.

"I apologize, that's why I deleted it," he tweeted. "I believe conversation not confrontation leads to change and progress."

Cruz added: “I never have and never will advocate violence under any circumstances and I pray that we all encourage and educate each other.”

“The death of Trayvon Martin is an unthinkable tragedy that is any parent's worst nightmare," he explained. "As a father, I want my daughter to grow up in a country that uses this tragedy to heal and grow and progress. My prayers continue to go out to Trayvon Martin's family.”
