It's only been a little over a week since Jennifer Lopez announced via a joint statement with Marc Anthony that her marriage was coming to an end. But Lopez, who turns 42 today, was reportedly in good spirits while celebrating her birthday last night in Miami.
According to People.com, Lopez and her entourage of 16 (which included her mother, sister, manager, and stylist) enjoyed a lavish dinner last night at Scott Conant's restaurant, Scarpetta, inside Miami's Fountainbleau Hotel. The birthday girl's table had an ocean view and Lopez and her guests ordered from a menu of authenitc Italian dishes, including spaghetti with tomato and basil, fole gras ravioli and polenta.
"Jennifer looked radiant in a purple and silver evening dress," a source tells People.com. "And when they brought out her birthday cake after the meal, she began to sing. She was very happy. The whole group had a blast, staying for hours. They closed down the restaurant."
Earlier in the day yesterday, Lopez went on a shopping spree, visiting the high-end boutiques at Bal Harbour Shops just north of South Beach. There, Max and Emme's mom bought several baby outfits for her 3-year-old twins at Bonpoint of Paris. She also shopped at Hermes, Dolce & Gabbana, Valentino and Pucci.
But J.Lo's birthday celebration actually began on Friday night. After hosting a pool party with family and friends, Lopez and seven others enjoyed a pre-birthday dinner at the Wine Cellar of the Forge on Miami Beach (reportedly J.Lo and Marc Anthony visited the restaurant often when they were together).
"Jennifer and her group arrived around 9 p.m. and went directly to the private wine cellar for a pre-birthday dinner," a source tells People.com. "It was very secluded and beautiful among the bottles with bold and vibrant labels. The meal was served on a long rectangle mirrored table with cloud-like chandeliers hanging above."
Lopez wore a long, brightly colored geometric patterned dress and was reportedly in great spirits. "She was chatty and charming," a source says.
The restaurant's pasty chef surprised J.Lo with a special chocolate soufflé, which he presented to her after their meal. For appetizers, Lopez and her friends had lobster peanut butter and Jelly.
"Jennifer absolutely loved it," says the source. "When the waiters brought the soufflé, they sang 'Happy Birthday' to her while pouring everyone a crystal goblet of champagne.""
