We almost forgot Mariah Carey gave birth this year. On the cover of Us Weekly, it sure doesn’t look like the part-Venezuelan superstar singer had twins Moroccan and Monroe just six months ago. The 41-year-old songstress looks extremely happy with her slimmer, svelte figure showing off a lot of leg and a new toned stomach.
In her interview with Us, Carey said she gained an “enormous amount of weight” during her pregnancy. Carey had dem babies back in April on the third anniversary of her wedding to husband, actor/comedian Nick Cannon. According to Us, the Grammy-winning songstress got to work on losing her baby weight with a nutritionist and a plan from Jenny (formerly Jenny Craig). Carey is now reportedly a spokesperson for the weight loss and nutrition company. “I feel incredible,” Carey said of her new figure.
On a recent appearance on The Rosie Show, Carey was all smiles in a black mini-skirt and leather jacket as she talked about her post-baby body. In her first week on the Jenny diet plan, Carey told host Rosie O’Donnell that she lost tons of water weight. “It was just water, initially. When I started with the program, I lost at least 30 lbs. of weight that needed to be lost.” Remembering to eat was a big challenge for Carey, and she pointed out not eating actually slows down the metabolism.
The new mami also said she never weighed herself while shedding pounds. “I would tend to go, ‘Does this size dress fit me that I wore three years ago? I'm good, let's go.’ I would go by what it looked like, how I felt,” she said.
Yesterday, Carey spoke more about her weight gain during a Jenny press conference in New York City. According to People, the songstress said she wore a towel in the tub. "I’m not lying, I promise you!" she said with a laugh. "You think I would let Nick see me looking rancid like that?"
We can tell how proud Carey is of her progress. “I had to do this for me,” she told Us.
