Talk about a New Year’s Eve party chock-full of Latino celebrities! MTV’s NYE IN NYC 2012 is set to be co-hosted by part-Mexican singer Demi Lovato, and part-Mexican Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey.
Posey said in an MTV press release, “I love the MTV New Year's Eve Special and am excited to be co-hosting it with Demi Lovato.”
MTV will broadcast the show live on Saturday, December 31st at 11pm EST from the network’s Times Square studio. The televised special will also feature performances by part-Mexican singer/actress Selena Gomez and Lovato.
“I’m so excited to ring in the New Year in Times Square with MTV as well as share the stage with friends and amazing musicians,” Lovato commented.
Among the other performers scheduled to take the stage include Jason Derulo, Mac Miller, and J Cole. Special appearances by some of the cast of ABC Family’s Switched at Birth are also expected.
Fans can go online and vote for their favorite songs of 2011 for a special performance during the show. There is also a chance to attend the star studded party in person by bidding for a pair of tickets in a charitable auction with all proceeds benefiting MTV Act's relief efforts in East Africa.
Last year’s MTV New Year’s Bash was dominated by the Caucasian market with host Whitney Cummings and the Jersey Shore cast. The only musical guest was Flo Rida. This year, MTV is looking to amp up the music and the Latino star power.
