Jasmine Villegas, 17
In September, R & B artist, Jasmine Villegas made headlines when she was caught kissing Justin Bieber. But the beautiful singer — who is half-Mexican and half-Filipino — is hardly a groupie. In fact, she's already a big star in the Philippines, and has a loyal fan base—whom she refers to as Jasminators—on Twitter and YouTube. In addition, Jasmine starred as Bieber's love interest in the video for his hit single, "Baby," and was his opening act for the, My World’s 2.0 tour. Her debut album will be released on Epic Records early next year.
Natalie Morales, 25
In addition to landing a recurring role on the hit NBC sitcom, Parks and Recreation, Natalie also starred as a high-powered antagonist in Wall Street 2: Money Never Sleeps, the highly anticipated sequel to Oliver Stone's Academy-Award winning 1987 classic, Wall Street. The film opened #1 at the box office in its opening weekend.
Bruno Mars, 25
You can't turn on the radio without hearing a song by new artist, Bruno Mars. In addition to having his own international number-one single, "Just the Way You Are," Bruno also co-wrote the hooks for "Nothin' on You" by B.o.B and "Billionaire" by Travie McCoy. Last week, the talented singer-songwriter was nominated for seven Grammy Awards, including Best Male Pop Performance for "Just the Way You Are" and Record of the Year for his work with B.o.B (featuring Mars) and Cee Lo Green.
In 2010, Prince Royce released his self-titled debut album, and got nominated for a Latin Grammy Award for 'Best Contemporary Tropical Album." His 2010 single — a bachata cover of the 1960 Ben E. King hit "Stand by Me," was also #26 on the Billboard Tropical music charts. This young Dominicano has a bright future in Bachata.
Rico Rodriguez, 12
Earlier this year, we asked the suave and hilarious Rico Rodriguez what he loves about being Latino, and the 12-year-old said he likes the fact that "we're starting to take over!" If anybody knows what it's like to "take over," it's Rico. At the tender age of 12, the scene-stealing actor already has a hit, Emmy-winning TV show (Modern Family), and he's starting a clothing line for plus-sized people. “It’s for people who can’t find clothes,” he told us.
When Prince William announced his royal engagement to his longtime girlfiend, Kate Middleton, the British beauty was wearing a royal blue wrap dress by a Brazilian-born designer named, Daniella Issa Helayel. The future Queen of England isn't the only high profile celeb that digs Issa's designs—Jennifer Lopez and Eva Mendes are also big fans! Not too shabby.
Mondo Guerra, 32
One of the fiercest competitors in the history of Project Runway, Mondo was considered the heavy favorite to win season 8 all season long, and even though in the end he lost to fellow competitor, Gretchen Jones, Mondo went on to do something that made him an even bigger winner — he used his celebrity to increase awareness about HIV/AIDS. Recently, the popular young designer went to Washington D.C. on behalf of the United Nations to speak about the epidemic for World AIDS Day.
Naya Rivera, 23
During the first season of FOX's hit show, Glee, Naya Rivera barely had speaking lines. In season 2, after she was promoted from guest star to series regular on the show, Naya's character Santana Lopez not only got a bunch of speaking lines, but also big song and dance numbers — she even got to play the Madonna to Brittany's (Heather Morris) "Britney" during Glee's Britney Spears episode.
Odette Yustman, 25.
2010 was a really busy year for Odette Yustman. The part-Cuban actress starred opposite A-listers Sigourney Weaver and Jamie Lee Curtis in the popcorn flick, You Again, filmed an action drama called The Double with Richard Gere, and landed a recurring role on ABC's hit family drama, Brothers & Sisters as a love interest for her real-life husband, Dave Annable, whom she married in October.
Paz de la Huerta, 26
For years, Paz starred in indie films like Choke (2008) and Enter the Void (2009). In 2010, she landed her first recurring television role as Lucy, Nucky's (Steve Buscemi) crazy girlfriend on HBO's acclaimed series, Boardwalk Empire.
