Mexican singer Thalia and Puerto Rican superstar Jennifer Lopez are both in the running to play Gloria Estefan in a Broadway musical based on the Estefan's.
According to TV Notas, Gloria and Emilio Estefan want Thalia to be offered the role in the musical set to be called "Do That Conga."
Fox News Latino reported in early February that the Estefans teamed up with Nederlander Organization, which will partner with Siegfried & Roy's Bernie Yuman to produce the show tracing the Estefans' journey from Cuba to the United States.
Besides the “Amor a la Mexicana” singer, Lopez and Colombian singer/actress Fanny Lú are also in talks to play Gloria Estefan. The artists being considered to play Emilio Estefan include Chayanne, Carlos Ponce and William Levy.
"We are very excited to share this story, which is based on hope, determination and the belief that with hard work and passion, our dreams can become our reality. Our music has been a true reflection of who we are, where we came from and the journey that has brought us to where we are today," Gloria and Emilio Estefan said in a statement.
