It may be dubbed the Lone Star State, but there are many Latino stars that hail from Texas! It seems like that they say is true, everything is bigger in Texas, including the celebirites. Check out which of your favorite Latino celebs call the second largest state home!

1. Texas: Demi Lovato

Demi Lovato Raised in Dallas, Texas

Actress and singer Demi Lovato is a Texan through and through! Though she was born in New Mexico, the star was raised in Dallas. Speaking of Dallas, the stunning Lovato sang the National Anthem to start a Cowboys football game, her mother is a former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader and her older sister’s name is Dallas. We certainly wouldn’t ever question her roots!

2. Texas: Eva Longoria

Eva Longoria Born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas

We’re willing to bet that Texans are more than happy to claim the strikingly beautiful Eva Longoria as their own. The Desperate Housewives actress was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas. Longoria didn’t travel far from home for school. She attended Texas A&M University-Kingsville to receive her degree in kinesiology. Longoria also competed for, and won, the Miss Corpus Christi title in 1998. It was this competition that led her away of Texas to Los Angeles in hopes of pursuing a career in show business. 

3. Texas: Alexis Bledel

Alexis Bledel Born and raised in Houston, Texas

Blue-eyed Latina Alexis Bledel was born and raised in Houston, Texas. A fluent Spanish speaker, the actress didn’t learn to speak English until she started school! Bledel is best known for her roles in the long-running Gilmore Girls and The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series.

James Roday Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas

He may play a Santa Barbara “psych” detective on the television show Psych, but James Roday (born James Rodriguez) was actually born and raised in San Antonio, Texas! The Mexican actor attended Taft High School before leaving home to attend NYU.

Named for another famous Selena who also happened to be a Texan, Selena Gomez was born and raised in Grand Prairie, Texas. The Lone Star State served as her home before her acting and singing career really took off.

Michelle Rodriguez is right out of the Wild West! Well, not really, but she was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. The Latina, who is known to play the tough girl in movies like the The Fast and the Furious and Machete, lived in the Lone Star State until the age of 11 when her family relocated to New Jersey.

7. Texas: Marlen Esparza

Marlen Esparza Born in Houston and raised in Pasadena, Texas

This groundbreaking boxer grew up in Pasadena, Texas. The Pasadena High School graduate not only competed in the 2012 London Olympics, but she took home the first ever Olympic bronze medal in the women’s flyweight division. Marlen Esparza is someone Texas can certainly be proud of!

Robert Rodriguez Born and raised in San Antonio, Texas

Acclaimed director Robert Rodriguez has directed a variety of hit films from Spy Kids to Sin City to Machete, and his home state of Texas helped foster his talent! Rodriguez grew up in San Antonio attending St. Anthony High School; where he was fired from his job videotaping the football games because he refused to conform to a straightforward recording style. Rodriguez went on to attend the University of Texas.

Alana de la Garza Raised in El Paso, Texas

Alana de la Garza’s Texas home helped put her on the map. The former Law & Order star grew up in El Paso, Texas, where she competed in, and won, Miss El Paso Teen USA. The actress attended the University of Texas where she studied physical therapy and social work but, upon graduation, she was pulled toward television. Thank goodness for us her Texas upbringing gave her a solid foundation for success!

Ricardo Antonio Chavira Born in Austin and raised in San Antonio, Texas

Like his Desperate Housewives wife Eva Longoria, actor Ricardo Antonio Chavira also finds his roots in the Lone Star State. Chavira was born in Austin, but grew up in San Antonio where he attended Robert E. Lee High School. Upon graduation, though, the actor left his home state to go to school and pursue his dreams in California.

Sarah Shahi Born and raised in Euless, Texas

Most Texan men probably wish they’d run into stunningly gorgeous Sarah Shahi on the street. The actress, who currently stars in CBS’s Person of Interest, was born and raised in Euless, Texas. Shahi went to Trinity High School and then Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Her time in Texas did not end there, though! She won Miss Fort Worth and became a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader for a couple years before leaving for Los Angeles to pursue her acting goals.

Jade Esteban Estrada Born in San Antonio, Texas

It seems that Jade Esteban Estrada has done it all, but he’s probably best known as a Latin pop singer. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, but after being prompted by a choir instructor to take voice lessons, Estrada eventually left the Lone Star State for the Big Apple. The move didn’t end his ties to Texas, though. This past year, Estrada began writing for the San Antonio Current.

Actor and Comedian Alex Reymundo was born in Mexico, but moved to Texas at the tender age of two. Reymundo is recognized for his comedic talents. He was featured in The Original Kings of Comedy and had his own one-hour special on Comedy Central titled Alex Reymundo Hick-Spanic: Live in Albuquerque.

Growing up in San Antonio, Emilio was greatly influenced by Tejano and country legends – little did he know he’d become one himself!
