William Levy received a surprise for his 31st birthday, when his mother and grandmother surprised the Cuban actor with a party. The party had a Hollywood theme, complete with a star-shaped cake and posters on the bathroom that read: “No Paparazzi.” The Triunfo del Amor actor, who was all smiles, posted photos from the party on his Twitter account.

—At a recent press conference in Mexico, singer/song-writer Ke$ha said she would like to work with Colombian singers Juanes and Shakira. The 24-year-old, who studied Spanish in Cuba, is currently on her Get Sleazy tour and preparing for her new album.

Paulina Rubio recently announced the release date for her new single. “I want to be the first one to let you know that Sept. 13 is when my new song comes out! Are you ready to dance?!!” wrote the 40-year-old new mami. Not many details have been released about the Mexican singer’s new album, only that it will have a “Spanglish” flavor.

—Director Pedro Almodóvar premiered his new film, La Piel Que Habito (or The Skin That I Inhabit), in Spain. The horror film by the Spanish film director stars 51-year-old fellow countryman Antonio Banderas as a plastic surgeon who searches for the man who raped his daughter.

Sin City 2, the sequel to Robert Rodriguez’s hit 2005 film, has brought an award-winning writer on board. William Monahan, who won an Oscar for best adapted screenplay for The Departed, will work alongside the 43-year-old Mexican American director on the film, which is rumored to star Jessica Alba.

—Singer Joe Jonas performed onstage recently with ex-RBD member Dulce María. The 25-year-old Mexican singer/actress looked radiant in a silver dress alongside the Jonas brother. The pair’s performance was part of 2011’s MTV World Stage Mexico, an international concert event.
