—Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, the Spanish director behind 28 Weeks Later, will direct a reinvention of the film The Crow. Expected to start production this fall, the 1994 film is an adaption of the comic book series by James O’Barr and starred Brandon Lee, the son of martial arts legend Bruce Lee.
—Swizz Beatz is helping the New York Knicks step their game up – music-wise. The record producer has re-created the team’s theme song “Go New York” in time for its re-entrance into the NBA playoffs. According to MTV.com, NY Knicks Carmelo Anthony and Amar’e Stoudemire filmed a music video with the established producer, which will run on their team’s MSG network.
—The Annual Rock in Río Music Festival will dedicate this year’s installment to the late Freddie Mercury. Mercury, who passed away from AIDS almost 20 years ago, led the famous British band Queen. According to Batanga.com, the festival organizers plan on installing a giant screen with the image of Mercury. Alongside the screen will perform Milton Nascimento, a prominent singer-songwriter in Brazil.
