— Even with her crazy schedule, our October cover girl Selena Gomez always squeezes in time to stay looking gorgeous. Just Jared Jr. reports that the part-Mexican teen star got dolled up recently for the STARS 2011 Benefit Gala, which honored Rich Ross, the chairman of the Walt Disney Studios. After all, it was Disney that helped 19-year-old Gomez shoot to stardom.
— In collaboration with Budweiser, Mexican icon Vicente Fernández has been presenting scholarships to U.S. Latino college students. According to Fox News Latino, the 71-year-old singer said he was pleased to collaborate with the beer company on “projects that empower the community, especially the Hispanic Scholarship Fund.”
— Creepy dolls, anyone? According to Tr3s, famed Mexican director Guillermo del Toro will reportedly oversee an adaptation of hit short Alma, about a young girl who gets into trouble in a creepy doll store. Del Toro will serve as both executive producer and consultant to the film.
— Argh matey! Christina Aguilera channeled her inner pirate this past Monday at a Halloween party held by Aguilera’s fellow coach from The Voice, Adam Levine. Just Jared reports that the 30-year-old part-Ecuadorian songstress attended the party with her boyfriend Matt Rutler.
— In hopes of seeing more diversity in the credits behind television shows, Fox has a new writer’s program. According to Tr3s, the new four-month Writer’s Intensive diversity program will accept 10 applicants, who will be taught by studio producers, screenwriters, and directors. The program kicks off next February, but submissions are being accepted now until November 9. For those interested in applying, find out more information here.
