—Mariah Carey will be a guest on The X Factor, People reports. A source close to Simon Cowell’s brand new show hinted that the new mother won’t be a judge, but the special guest of a judge. “She is confirmed to tape something with Simon Cowell at the judge’s homes,” said the anonymous source.
—Guillermo del Toro spoke to MTV recently about the two dynamics of horror films that he used in his new film, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark,” which hits theatres Friday. The Mexican director described the rhythm of his film as a blend of “hide and seek” and “tag.” Hide and seek means there’s a lot of tension in the film, according to Del Toro, and tag is when a person who the character has been anticipating for comes out and the character has to chase them.
—Selena Gomez is building her debut fragrance – and enlisting her army of adoring fans to help. According to MyDaily UK, the 19-year-old actress/singer is asking her fans to vote on their favorite ingredients by logging onto a website. The first 50,000 participants to go on the website will be entered to win a tour of the fragrance lab with Selenita herself and also receive a sample of the new fragrance once its completed.
—Half Mexican actor Clifton Collins Jr. is joining the cast of Guillermo del Toro’s new film, “Pacific Rim.” The film, slated to be a mega-monster picture according to Variety, is about an alien invasion set in Japan.
—Nicole Richie showed her poetic side recently when she penned a piece for her brother-in-law, Josh Madden. “Happy Birthday to my brother Josh/Today you won’t be eating squash/Birthday cake is whats for you”… so Richie may not be the next Edgar Allan Poe, but we still think the gesture was sweet. —Bruno Mars seemed to have had a great time during the filming of a promo commercial for this year’s MTV Video Music Awards.
