— At this year’s 2011 National Council of La Raza (NCLR) ALMA Awards, Spanish actor Antonio Banderas dedicated his Best Movie Actor award to his nephew, Javier. “Whatever you do in your life – and this goes to you and for every Latino your age in this country – do it with love,” the 51-year-old actor said. The ALMA Awards air tomorrow at 9/8 PM central on NBC.
— A sneak peek of the series finale of LA Ink has been released, and Kat Von D looks very happy. The Argentinean-Mexican star of the reality show is shown working on her new art space with her honey, Jesse James. The two made headlines earlier this year when they broke off their engagement – but later got back together. This is LA Ink’s last season – TLC announced last month that it was pulling the plug on the show.
— Pedro Almodóvar’s new film La Piel Que Habito (The Skin I Live In) is up for Spain’s foreign-language Oscar. According to Variety, the horror film by the Spanish director was chosen by the Spanish Academy as a contender for the prestigious award.
— The first woman suspected of being linked to the infamous Mexican Zetas drug cartel was arrested, FOX News Latino reports. Mireya Morreno Carreon was arrested by marines, along with another suspect. She was reportedly carrying six cell phones with her and armed with a revolver. According to the website, Moreno Carreon was driving a stolen vehicle when arrested – and transporting a powder suspected to be cocaine and marijuana.
