—Mexican American singer Jenni Rivera is switching things up a bit with her new album. Instead of the banda music we have long associated the 42-year-old with, Rivera’s new single, Basta Ya, is a pop tune off her new album, Joyas Prestadas (Borrowed Jewels).
—The first U.S. trailer is out for Pedro Almodóvar’s new horror film, La Piel Que Habito (The Skin I Live In) and it really pulls you in. The horror film by the Spanish director stars fellow countryman Antonio Banderas as a plastic surgeon who searches for the man who raped his daughter.
—The promo for the highly anticipated sixth season of Dexter is out – all ten seconds of it. The short clip features the tag line “This time – hell breaks loose” – and we’re excited to see part Puerto Rican and part Mexican actress Aimee Garcia in the hit show, in which she will play the nanny to Dexter’s son. The sixth season premieres Oct. 2 on Showtime.
—During an appearance on Univision’s Despierta América, 30-year-old Puerto Rican actress Adamari López grew tearful after she was shown an adorable surprise video featuring her nephew and niece. “They’re like my children,” she said. “I love them with all my heart!”
—Singers Luis Enrique, Ruben Blades, and Carlos Vives recently performed together at the Fiesta Latina 2011 concert in Lima, Peru for a crowd of more than 20,000 people.
