TVNewser is reporting that journalist Soledad O'Brien, the lead documentary correspondent on the CNN specials "Black in America" and "Latino in America"—will return to CNN to anchor mornings in 2012.
CNN is expected to break up the mornings into two two-hour shows: 5-7 a.m ET and 7 a.m.-9 a.m. ET, both produced from New York. O’Brien is expected to lead the 7 a.m., while Ashleigh Banfield, who anchored on MSNBC, is expected to co-anchor the 5 a.m.
O'Brien, who's half-Cuban, is finishing up a new "Black in America" series for November. Her new series is not expected to hit the airwaves until after the New Year.
Latina.com reached out to CNN to confirm the news, but a network spokesperson said: "CNN doesn't comment on speculation."
