Sofia Vergara is set to produce a show based on her real-life experiences as a single mother.
Deadline.com reports that the Modern Family star has signed on to produce a single-camera comedy for ABC called Raising Mom.
“The show is inspired by Vergara’s experiences raising her son and follows a single mom and her 21-year-old son who discover that they have done a pretty good job raising each other, only now they decided it might be time to gain some independence,” Deadline reports.
The idea for the show was conceived by Luis Balaguer of Latin World Entertainment after he observed Vergara’s relationship with her son Manolo, 21.
The Colombiana, whom Forbes recently named TV’s highest-earning actress, isn’t the only star behind Raising Mom. Gail Mancuso, the Emmy-winning director of Modern Family, has signed on to spearhead the pilot episode.
