Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon: 16 Latinos Who Have Worked With 'The Following' Star!

Back in the mid-‘90s, Kevin Bacon told Premiere magazine he’d worked with everybody in Hollywood or someone who’s worked with them. That statement resulted in the creation of the Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon game, based on the "six degrees of separation" concept, which challenges people to find the shortest path between any actor and the Footloose star.

In celebration of Bacon’s new Fox series The Following, which features Dexter’s David Zayas and Hollywood newcomer Adan Canto, we’re taking a look at Bacon’s Latin roots, his connection to Latinos in Hollywood. Only there’s no need to play Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon when he’s actually worked with some of our community’s most noted luminaries!

1. Kevin Bacon Connection: David Zayas

David Zayas

He’s worked with notable stars like Academy Award-winner Rita Moreno (HBO’s OZ), Sylvester Stallone (The Expendables) and Lauren Vélez (Showtime’s Dexter). And this winter, David Zayas will add Kevin Bacon to his list of co-stars. The Puerto Rican actor will have a recurring role on Bacon’s new Fox series The Following, which premieres this Monday (January 21) at 9/8c. He’ll portray Tyson, a former FBI agent and good friend to Bacon’s character Ryan Hardy in the 10th episode of the Kevin Williamson drama.

2. Kevin Bacon Connection: Alex Gonzalez

Álex González

Talk about making a blockbuster Hollywood debut. Spanish-language actor Álex González starred opposite Bacon, Jennifer Lawrence and James McAvoy in his first Hollywood feature – 2011’s X-Men prequel X-Men: First Class. Starring as one of Bacon’s baddies in the action film, the Madrid-born actor portrayed Riptide, a mutant who can spin his body really fast to create tornados. And González will likely return in the follow-up film, X-Men: Days of Future Past.

3. Kevin Bacon Connection: Wilmer Valderrama

Wilmer Valderrama

Like Kevin Bacon, Wilmer Valderrama has become a master at playing some oh-so-eccentric characters like Fez on That '70s Show. But in 2005’s Queen Latifah-starrer Beauty Shop, Valderrama managed to one-up Bacon’s quirky Jorge character when he made a cameo appearance in the film as Corky. We need to get Corky washed!”

4. Kevin Bacon Connection: Frankie Muniz

Frankie Muñiz

Before becoming famous for his titular roles in Malcolm in the Middle and Agent Cody Banks, a teenaged Frankie Muñiz shared some dramatic scenes with his gruff, proud on-screen father Kevin Bacon in My Dog Skip.

5. Kevin Bacon Connection: Benjamin Bratt

Benjamin Bratt

Benjamin Bratt has the distinct honor of having worked with Kevin Bacon on two films. The half-Peruvian American actor first shared the screen with Bacon in 1994’s whitewater rafting thriller The River Wild, a film that saw them on opposite sides of the law. Twenty years later, Bratt portrayed Bacon’s brother-in-law in the 2004 drama The Woodsman, about a convicted child molester adjusting to life after prison.

6. Kevin Bacon Connection: Paul Rodriguez

Paul Rodriguez

In one of Paul Rodriguez’s first major film roles, the Mexico-born stand-up comedian and actor starred opposite Kevin Bacon in the 1986 feature Quicksilver, a film about bicycle messengers in San Francisco. In the film, Bacon portrays a former hot-shot stock market whiz kid who becomes a bike messenger and befriends one of his co-workers at the service, Hector Rodriguez (Rodriguez), a budding entrepreneur.

7. Kevin Bacon Connection: Adan Canto

Adan Canto

Last January, Hollywood newcomer Adan Canto signed a talent holding deal with Fox. One year later, the Mexican actor/singer is starring in his first television series. In the Kevin Bacon-starrer The Following, which premiered last Monday (January 21), Canto will appear as series-regular Paul Torres, a seemingly-normal man who is revealed to have a very dark side. Sounds intriguing!

8. Kevin Bacon Connection: Daphne Rubin-Vega

Daphne Rubin-Vega

The erotic thriller Wild Things may be notorious for its steamy sex scenes, including one involving Denise Richards, Matt Damon and Neve Campbell. But we’ll remember it as the film that earned Daphne Rubin-Vega a Blockbuster Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Suspense Thriller. The Panama-born Broadway singer/actress, best known for starring in the musical Rent, portrayed hard-nosed Detective Gloria Perez, the partner of Kevin Bacon’s character Sergeant Ray Duquette.

9. Kevin Bacon Connection: Tony Plana

Tony Plana

Before playing Betty Suarez’s (America Ferrera)'s father on the ABC’s long-running series Ugly Betty, Tony Plana appeared in several feature films, including Oliver Stone’s 1991 political thriller JFK. The Cuban-American actor portrayed Carlos Bringuier in the film about the Kennedy assassination that co-starred Kevin Bacon as Willie O'Keefe.

10. Kevin Bacon Connection: Laura Ceron

Laura Cerón

Laura Cerón is best known for portraying Nurse Chuny Marquez from fifteen seasons on ER. But in 2007, the Mexico-born actress portrayed empathetic social worker Susan Garcia in Kevin Bacon’s Rails & Ties, which tells the story of a deadly collision between a train and car that leads to an unlikely bond between the train engineer and the young boy who escapes the wreckage.

11. Kevin Bacon Connection: Andy Garcia

Andy Garcia

In 2008’s The Air I Breathe – a drama based on an ancient Chinese proverb that breaks life down into four emotional cornerstones: happiness, pleasure, sorrow and love – Andy Garcia’s character Fingers serve as the person who intertwines the four individuals in each story, including Kevin Bacon’s character.

12. Kevin Bacon Connection: Esai Morales

Esai Morales

Before playing Ritchie Valens’ troubled brother in the 1987 biopic La Bamba, Esai Morales co-starred opposite Kevin Bacon in the 1982 drama Forty Deuce. The Puerto Rican actor portrayed Mitchell in his first feature film, which was screened at 1982 Cannes Film Festival.

13. Kevin Bacon Connection: Julie Gonzalo

Julie Gonzalo

In 2007, Dallas reboot star Julie Gonzalo and Kevin Bacon starred in then-11-year-old Dominic Scott Kay’s short film Saving Angelo, a story based on the true events of an abandoned dog left for dead on the side of the road that Kay and his family rescued in 2003. The film’s earnings went to animal charity projects.

14. Kevin Bacon Connection: Raymond Cruz

Raymond Cruz

Okay, so Raymond Cruz has yet to share screen time with Kevin Bacon. But while starring opposite Bacon’s wife Kyra Sedgwick on TNT’s long-running police procedural The Closer, the Mexican-American actor did take direction from the Footloose star while the show was on the air. Bacon directed four episodes of The Closer from 2006-2009.

15. Kevin Bacon Connection: Victoria Justice & Jamie Lynn Sigler

Victoria Justice & Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Kevin Bacon has lined up his next Hispanic co-stars. He’ll star opposite Victoria Justice and Jamie-Lynn Sigler in this year’s Skum Rocks!, a genre-bending film described as a true-life This is Spinal Tap. The film tells true story of the band that gained massive east coast popularity in the late 1980s despite having a complete lack of musical talent and ambition.
