There is no doubt that Shakira is a superstar, so finally, she will be honored with one of her own on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. On November 8, the 2.354th star on the Walk will be named for the 34 year-old Colombian singer and philanthropist. She is being recognized for her achievements in the Category of Recording. The star will be located in front of the W Hollywood Hotel at the corner of Hollywood and Vine.
The next day, Nov. 9, Shakira will be honored as the Latin Recording Academy Person of the Year for her philanthropic work and outstanding achievements in Latin Music.
In October, President Obama recognized Shakira for her international philanthropic work in promoting education as a way to end the cycle of poverty by appointing her to the President’s Advisory Commission on Educational Excellence for Hispanics.
She also heads the Barefoot Foundation, which just opened its sixth school. Her foundation, which she started at 18, already provides educational and nutritional resources to over six thousand impoverished children in Colombia alone and is expanding its reach to more countries.
What’s next for this Colombian superstar? Her uncanny ability to balance her mega-successful music career as well as her international advocacy work is certainly impressive, but Shakira’s new star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame seems like the cherry on top.
