Selena Gomez can finally get back to sharing to her followers, fans and tweethearts without fear.

The teen star’s Facebook and Twitter hacker, who published “Justin Bieber sucks” on her profile back in 2011, was recently sentenced to a year in prison.

The hacker, a 21-year-old named Gareth Crosskey, was able to convince Facebook staff that he was Gomez’s social media manager and stepdad, Brian Teefey, reports the British newspaper, The Sun. Once he was able to get the password reset, he hit a social media goldmine and found out about the Disney star’s relationship with Justin Bieber before it hit the media. The hacker also claims to have had interaction with Demi Lovato while posing as Selena. (We wonder what juicy chisme he was able to read!)

The FBI tracked down Crosskey, but they didn’t have to search too hard since the clever hacker posted a video on YouTube bragging about his skills and how he broke into Gomez’s account. (Real smart!)

According to Perez Hilton, Judge John Price said during sentencing, “Selena Gomez had a Facebook account on which she has six million friends. They have permission to get into part of the account and you hacked into a private part by getting the email password."

What do you think? Do you feel a year in prison is fair punishment or too harsh a sentence? Share in the comments!
