Salma Hayek has been added to French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s list of recipients of those to be honored with the grade of Chavalier or “Knight.” According to People.com, the 45 year-old Mexican Puss In Boots actress will receive a formal induction at the Élysées Palace within the next two months.
The merit award called the Legion of Honor dates back to 1802 when it was founded by Napoleon. It is awarded to military personnel and civilians for service to France, however it is not reserved exclusively for the French. Past recipients include Clint Eastwood, Robert De Niro, Jerry Lewis, and Robert Redford.
Hayek’s honor is also shared with her father-in-law, Francois Pinault who has standing on the same list as the Legion’s rank of Grand Officer. Since she married François-Henri Pinault, Hayek seems to be receiving respect in the French community. Soon, she’ll be recognized as a knight!
